Active Start to 2020

In January the Active New Communities team held Active New Me taster sessions across Northstowe and Alconbury Weald. The events were a great way for residents to start the New Year by trying out some new activities to get active and find out more about sport and physical activity opportunities available in their local area. The events were supported by a variety of local instructors and fitness providers around Northstowe and Alconbury Weald.

Northstowe residents got to take part in fitness sessions with local providers Over Power, Neil Marsh Health & Fitness and Cambs Boot Camp. There were running sessions with Longstanton & Northstowe Limpers as well as the chance to try out badminton and judo. The morning activities were aimed at adults and in the afternoon we partnered with Pathfinder Church to provide activities for the whole family with ‘Active Church’ focusing on circuit training for body and soul. The event was fuelled by a pop up community café supported by volunteers from Pathfinder Church.

Alconbury Weald residents experienced conditioning sessions with The Unit Fitness, the gym team based on site and boot camp with DM fitness. Other popular sessions were Pilates & Yoga with Helen Decker from Movement With Mindfulness and BarreFloor with Stars on Stage UK. There was also the chance for parents and toddlers to enjoy some dance, music and fun with Dinky Disco from Stars on Stage UK!

Over 130 people attended sessions across the two events and were able to find out more information about regular sessions taking place in their local area. For information about the sessions near you check out the community pages on the website home page.
